ISO 9001 Certification

Third-party ISO 9001 certification from an IAS-accredited certification body. Win the contracts that require it, satisfy procurement, and prove your quality management system to any customer, with a certificate verifiable on IAF CertSearch.

The Standard

What Is ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015 and the newly published ISO 9001:2026) is the international standard for quality management systems (QMS). It defines how an organization documents, operates, and continually improves the processes that determine the quality of its products and services, from leadership accountability and risk-based planning to operational control and corrective action.

Certification means an accredited, independent certification body has audited your QMS in operation and confirmed it conforms to the standard. It is the difference between saying you have a quality system and proving it.

Why Certify

Why Organizations Get ISO 9001 Certified

Win Contracts

Prime contractors, government buyers, and enterprise procurement teams routinely require ISO 9001 in bids and supplier onboarding. No certificate, no shortlist.

Keep Customers

Certification answers supplier quality questionnaires once, instead of audit after audit from every customer.

Run Tighter Operations

Documented processes, measured outcomes, and corrective action cut rework, returns, and firefighting.

  • Required or preferred in most government and defense supply chains
  • Accepted worldwide through IAF multilateral recognition
  • The foundation standard: ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 13485 build on the same management system structure
The Process

How ISO 9001 Certification Works

GMCS runs a defined, two-stage certification audit. You always know where you are in the process and what comes next.

1. Quote and applicationTell us your size, sites, and timeline. We scope the audit program and send a proposal.
2. Optional pre-assessmentA readiness audit that finds gaps before the certification audit. Recommended for first-time certifications.
3. Stage 1 auditReview of your documented QMS and confirmation you are ready for Stage 2.
4. Stage 2 auditThe certification audit: your system evaluated in operation against ISO 9001 requirements.
5. CertificationCertificate issued on closure of findings, verifiable on IAF CertSearch.
6. Surveillance and recertificationAnnual surveillance audits maintain the certificate; recertification renews it at year three.
Cost

What Determines ISO 9001 Certification Cost

There is no one-size price. Your quote is scoped from audit time, which is driven by four factors. Organizations with fewer than 100 employees qualify for the GMCS Small Organization Program's discounted pricing.

Transfers

Already ISO 9001 Certified? Transfer to GMCS.

If your current certification body is slow to schedule, slow to answer, or priced for someone else's overhead, transfer your accredited certificate to GMCS. Your certification cycle and surveillance schedule continue uninterrupted, and in most cases there is no repeat of Stage 1 and Stage 2.

FAQ

ISO 9001 Certification Questions

How long does ISO 9001 certification take?
Timing depends on the readiness of your quality management system. Once your QMS is documented and in operation, the certification audit itself is a two-stage process, and many organizations complete it within a few months. GMCS scopes your timeline in the quote.
How much does ISO 9001 certification cost?
Cost is driven by the size of your organization, the number of sites, and the complexity of your operations. GMCS maintains discounted pricing for organizations with fewer than 100 employees. Request a quote for pricing scoped to your organization.
How long is an ISO 9001 certificate valid?
Three years, maintained by annual surveillance audits, followed by a recertification audit at the end of the cycle.
What is the difference between the Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits?
Stage 1 reviews your documented quality management system and confirms readiness. Stage 2 evaluates the system in operation against ISO 9001 requirements. Certification is issued after Stage 2 findings are closed.
Can we transfer our existing ISO 9001 certificate to GMCS?
Yes. An existing accredited certificate can transfer to GMCS without restarting your certification cycle. Your surveillance schedule continues uninterrupted.
Does GMCS provide ISO 9001 consulting?
No. GMCS is an independent certification body. Accreditation rules prohibit certifying a system we helped build, and that independence is what keeps your certificate credible with customers and auditors.
