ISO 45001 Certification

Third-party ISO 45001 certification from an IAS-accredited certification body. Clear contractor prequalification, reduce incidents, and prove your safety management system to the customers who require it.

The Standard

What Is ISO 45001?

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It defines how an organization identifies hazards, controls risks to workers, and continually improves safety performance, with leadership accountability and worker participation built into the standard.

Certification means an accredited, independent certification body has audited your safety management system in operation and confirmed it conforms to the standard. For prequalification reviewers, it is proof, not paperwork.

Why Certify

Why Organizations Get ISO 45001 Certified

Clear Prequalification

General contractors, energy companies, and industrial clients screen vendors on safety systems. Certification moves you through.

Reduce Incidents

Systematic hazard identification and risk control cut injuries, downtime, and claims.

Strengthen Your Record

An audited system demonstrates diligence to insurers, regulators, and customers alike.

  • Recognized worldwide through IAF multilateral recognition
  • Common requirement in construction, energy, logistics, and field services
  • Integrates with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for combined audits on one management system
The Process

How ISO 45001 Certification Works

GMCS runs a defined, two-stage certification audit. You always know where you are in the process and what comes next.

1. Quote and applicationTell us your size, sites, and timeline. We scope the audit program and send a proposal.
2. Optional pre-assessmentA readiness audit that finds gaps before the certification audit. Recommended for first-time certifications.
3. Stage 1 auditReview of your documented OH&S system and confirmation you are ready for Stage 2.
4. Stage 2 auditThe certification audit: your system evaluated in operation against ISO 45001 requirements.
5. CertificationCertificate issued on closure of findings, verifiable on IAF CertSearch.
6. Surveillance and recertificationAnnual surveillance audits maintain the certificate; recertification renews it at year three.
Cost

What Determines ISO 45001 Certification Cost

There is no one-size price. Your quote is scoped from audit time, which is driven by four factors. Organizations with fewer than 100 employees qualify for the GMCS Small Organization Program's discounted pricing.

Transfers

Already ISO 45001 Certified? Transfer to GMCS.

If your current certification body is slow to schedule, slow to answer, or priced for someone else's overhead, transfer your accredited certificate to GMCS. Your certification cycle and surveillance schedule continue uninterrupted, and in most cases there is no repeat of Stage 1 and Stage 2.

FAQ

ISO 45001 Certification Questions

Does ISO 45001 replace OSHA compliance?
No. Regulatory compliance is mandatory regardless. ISO 45001 is a management system that helps you meet those obligations systematically and demonstrates that discipline to customers who require it.
How long does ISO 45001 certification take?
Timing depends on the readiness of your safety management system. Once it is documented and in operation, certification is a two-stage audit, and many organizations complete it within a few months.
How much does ISO 45001 certification cost?
Cost is driven by organization size, number of sites, and the risk profile of your operations. GMCS maintains discounted pricing for organizations with fewer than 100 employees.
How long is an ISO 45001 certificate valid?
Three years, maintained by annual surveillance audits, followed by a recertification audit at the end of the cycle.
Can we transfer our existing ISO 45001 certificate to GMCS?
Yes. An existing accredited certificate can transfer to GMCS without restarting your certification cycle.
Does GMCS provide ISO 45001 consulting?
No. GMCS is an independent certification body. Accreditation rules prohibit certifying a system we helped build, and that independence is what keeps your certificate credible.
